“On Christ the solid rock I stand.
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.”
My Bible study asked me this morning to name some things I put my hope in…. And I chose Jesus and his word. (The hymn "Solid Rock I Stand," more formally known as "My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less," was written by Edward Mote in 1834. The lyrics express a person's unwavering faith and hope in Jesus Christ as the only sure foundation amidst life's trials. )
Matthew 7:24-27 NIV
The Wise and Foolish Builders
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Now more than ever, I am grateful to love an all powerful God who is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. In an ever changing world that can’t decide what should be simple: man from woman. Living from not living. Good from evil. I’m so grateful for a God whom brings order from chaos. Whose truth I can stand firm on, and cling to no matter the prevailing winds. He is faithful. His word is sufficient. In him, I can stand with bold confidence. In Him I can rest in any storm.
“On Christ the solid rock I stand.
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.”
And in this firm foundation we find He is the Prince of Peace. It’s why we too can claim a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Today, we wake up to a world more uncertain than yesterday but we are anchored to the hope of Christ and him we find a peace that the world cannot fathom but so desperately desires.
I pray you root yourself so deep in the love and hope and peace of Christ today that others yearn to know why. That they ask you how you can remain calm in this world of chaos. And I pray that the Holy Spirit bears witness and speaks for you to boldly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Xoxo
